The Nelson Centre of Musical Arts is a vibrant and welcoming community hub in the heart of Nelson, dedicated to making music accessible, affordable, and inclusive for all. Since 1898, we have provided a sustainable and inspiring environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can teach, learn, create, perform, appreciate, and connect through music. Guided by the belief that music is for everyone, our mission is to foster a thriving musical community built on shared experiences, creativity, and connection.

Our two performance spaces are highly regarded by both local and visiting artists, and the historic Nelson School of Music Auditorium is often celebrated as one of the finest concert halls in the southern hemisphere. Inspired by this iconic venue, and supported by a secure financial foundation, we are committed to being Aotearoa New Zealand’s most vibrant, innovative, and accessible music community.

Through diverse musical opportunities on stage and in the studio, we aim to enrich lives, support artistic growth, and strengthen the cultural life of our region. At the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts, music brings people together, and everyone is invited to take part.
