Fifeshire Foundation is a local charity dedicated to strengthening communities in Nelson Tasman. Since its establishment in 1993, the Foundation has remained committed to supporting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship and domestic crisis, guided by the principle of offering “a helping hand, not a handout.” We are ‘locals looking out for locals.’

Strategic Focus
Our work is guided by four key strategic pillars:

• Structure – Building a high-performing organisation with robust systems, strong governance, and disciplined grantmaking processes aligned to our purpose. 

• Partnerships – Strengthening collaboration with regional agencies, community organisations, and local authorities to maximise collective impact

• Alleviate – Delivering on our core purpose: alleviating crisis and hardship through the careful collection and distribution of funds. 

• Advocate – Using our knowledge and insight to advocate for the reduction and elimination of social inequality. 

What We Fund
Through strategic grantmaking, Fifeshire Foundation provide support for immediate needs while building long-term resilience. Our funding focuses on:

• Education and learning support 

• Health and wellbeing provision, including oral health, mental health and social services

• Support to strengthen social connection and reduce isolation

• Support for individuals and families experiencing hardship

• Keeping families healthy and safe, living in warm homes

Our Approach
Fifeshire Foundation takes a collaborative, insight-driven approach to supporting those in need in our community. Trustees meet regularly to assess applications and allocate funding, ensuring resources are directed where they are needed most and will have the greatest impact. Transparency, accountability, and long-term stewardship underpin all decision-making.
