About
The Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective supports the people and organisations working with rangatahi across our region. Since 1985, we’ve helped build a professional youth sector based on whanaungatanga (connecting), tautoko (supporting), torokaha (strengthening), and hauora (wellbeing).
We offer professional development through training, advocacy, information sharing, and peer networking to support those working with young people. Our services are free or low-cost, inclusive, and open to all - from youth workers to educators to community leaders.
To ensure we are meeting the demand and are responsive to sector needs, the Collective in partnership with youth sector champions has developed and is implementing a Strengthening the Youth Sector Strategy for Nelson Tasman. The strategy is focused on improving access to work and learning opportunities and reducing the likelihood of social isolation for our communities of greatest need; young people not in education employment training (NEET), maori/Pasifika rangatahi, young people from LGBTQI+ community, former refugees/ new youth to the region, and geographically isolated young people.
The Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective invites philanthropic partners to help us grow this essential mahi. With increased support, we can achieve our strategic objectives, participate in collaborative projects, introduce new initiatives, and sustain planned growth into the future.
