Nelson Women’s Centre – has been empowering women and non-binary people in the community for over three decades. As a safe, inclusive hub, the Centre provides affordable counselling, social work, advocacy,  workshops, and peer-based initiatives that foster connection and reduce isolation. As a vital front-line service provider, the Centre continues to adapt to meet growing need and expand its reach. We serve over 1000 individuals each year, acting as a soft entry point into social services and ensuring early access to support.

Following a funding crisis in March 2024, we successfully re-opened at minimal operational levels in March 2025. Our impact is possible thanks to a mix of grants, donations, and community fundraising. We are actively seeking long-term co-investment partnerships to strengthen our financial sustainability and expand our reach.

Our vision for the next 3–5 years is to ensure long-term financial sustainability by leveraging our current property asset, exploring co-location and/or co-investment with like-minded service providers, and investigating redevelopment options. Strategic partnerships and passive income opportunities will help reduce reliance on grants and strengthen our resilience and ability to make an impact.  See our priorities detailed below.
