The Nelson AI Sandbox (NAIS) is New Zealand’s first community-led initiative dedicated to making artificial intelligence accessible, safe, and useful for everyone in the Nelson-Tasman region. The Sandbox is a place where people can freely explore AI tools, guided by local experts and volunteers. Since launch, NAIS has welcomed over 4,000 visitors.
Our mission is to bridge the digital divide and build community confidence in AI. From beginners to professionals, the Sandbox offers hands-on experiences, guided workshops, and practical support to help unlock the potential of AI.
By demystifying AI and building local capacity, the Sandbox empowers our community to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
