Unity in Diversity

For more than 30 years, Multicultural Nelson Tasman has stood beside migrants, former refugees, and ethnic communities as they build new lives here.  We promote, celebrate and strengthen multicultural communities so that everyone feels they belong, are respected, and can flourish.

Our annual flagship events – the Multicultural Festival and the Tasman Asian Night Food Fair – draw more than 10,000 people to share food, music, and dance. They are joyful reminders that diversity is one of Nelson Tasman’s greatest strengths. We supported 54 community-led projects in 2024, involving over 12,000 people. Our youth arm is inspiring a new generation of leaders to stand proud in their identities and shape an inclusive future.

MNT is more than an event organizer. We are a connector and advocate, bringing communities, agencies, and leaders together so that voices are heard, cultures are preserved, and newcomers are truly welcomed.

We wish to secure a permanent Multicultural Centre; invest in our dedicated staff, expand community-led projects, strengthen youth leadership, continue advocacy, and diversify our funding streams to ensure sustainability. Investment by philanthropists helps nurture a community where difference is treasured, cultures are carried forward, and everyone can feel at home here.
