About
For 23 years our free service has supported pregnant māma, pēpi, tamariki, and whānau across our region. We walk alongside whānau facing overwhelming challenges - unhoused, financial hardship, trauma, addiction, gang-affiliated and more; offering sustained, wrap-around care grounded in trust, responsiveness, and partnership.
Endorsed as a Kaupapa Māori organisation through the Kawenata Agreement by the eight Iwi of Te Tauihu, we engage with over 40% Māori and Pasifika whānau. When we "see" adversity, we don't "unsee it"; we belong to each other in our community and through kindness, connection and relationship, we flourish. We focus on emotional availability as a cornerstone of infant mental health and attachment, supporting mothers to keep "baby's mind in mind" - and ensuring their wellbeing with equal care. We also provide free support for women experiencing pregnancy loss.
Collaborating with health professionals and agencies, and partnering with the Salvation Army to offer emergency accommodation, we continue to respond to unmet needs with compassion and strength-based care.
"This service is effective in changing lives because it builds relationships which enable the service to help mothers meet their need for housing, connection, and proper maternal care; precarious families are supported into a place of stability that can make a difference for a lifetime." - Rt Hon Sir Bill English
