About

Fresh FM is the community access radio station serving Te Tau Ihu. For over 30 years, Fresh FM has given a voice to people and groups who are often under-represented in mainstream media, broadcasting a rich mix of local music, arts, culture, community news, and diverse perspectives.

Our station is powered by more than 70 volunteer programme makers, whose shows reflect the vibrancy of our region – from youth-led initiatives and language programmes, to specialist music shows, community conversations, and local event coverage. Fresh FM is committed to inclusivity, media literacy, and creative freedom, ensuring that everyone in our community has the opportunity to share their stories.

Fresh FM also produces podcasts, live streams local events and collaborates with community organisations to amplify important messages.  We are funded through a mix of grants, sponsorships, and donations, reinvesting all income into our volunteers, maintaining our studios, and delivering quality local content. Fresh FM stands as a platform where local voices matter - fostering connection, creativity, and community pride.

Fresh FM currently airs over 50 locally produced programmes, ranging from youth-led content in local schools, to environmental issues, to shows celebrating the cultural diversity of our region. By underwriting 6 months of airtime for one of these programmes, you will directly empower local voices. You are amplifying the causes and communities you care about, providing a platform that reaches the whole region.
