About

Located in Queen Elizabeth II Reserve, our new Chin Garden is the culmination of a 15-year dream for our community: to create a beautiful and deeply meaningful space we can call our own. With your support, we will shape the Chin Garden into a sanctuary for healing, connection, and pride. It will be filled with a rich variety of plants, including those culturally significant to our people, and feature sculptures, seating, and pathways to guide visitors through a peaceful space.

For our Chin community, many of whom arrived as refugees, this garden represents a profound chance to give back to the city that embraced us. It will be a place for elders to reconnect with the land and for our young people to feel a tangible link to their roots. We have always seen this garden as a gift to the wider Nelson community, a living bridge between cultures where everyone can come to learn about and appreciate our traditions.

This is more than a garden; it is a symbol of gratitude and resilience, a place where our history and our future can grow together, uniting people from all walks of life.
